Glossolalia
Question: Is speaking in tongues really a gift from the Holy Spirit? If so, why is this a gift, what does this do? What exactly are they saying?
God’s answer:
Gabble
Glossolalia
Meaning: "Glossolalia or speaking in tongues is the fluid vocalizing of speech-like syllables that lack any readily comprehended meaning."19. Glossolalia is not the same as the “gift of tongues” the apostles received during Pentecost.
Gabble means to “talk rapidly and unintelligibly; utter meaningless sounds”20: God’s message means:
-
It is not a gift of the Holy Spirit
-
God also does not understand what they are saying. According to God: “They are simply vocalizing. It’s all mumbo-jumbo.”
-
He shares my confusion as to why this is considered to be a spiritual gift.
